The rain did not stop 60+ volunteers from participating in Cadillac Urban Gardens and Scarcyny Park’s annual Motor City Makeover. Sarah Clark from SDEV organized tasks for teams to complete throughout the morning. Teams targeted different areas in the community. The Detroit Cristo Rey Kinematic Wolves and the DHDC Rec’n Crew wrapped up an exciting Rookie Season in First Robotics! The Kinematic Wolves received the Rookie All Star Award in its first competition in Southfield and showed tremendous growth during their competition in Woodhaven where they were an Alliance Team Captain! Since they won the Rookie All Star Award the Kinematic Wolves will present at Regionals in Grand Rapids, April 8-11 at the DeltaPlex. More…

On a cold March Saturday morning, 80 volunteers from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, BuildOn, Henry Ford Health Systems, Detroit Bees, Detroit Cristo Rey, Ideal employees and others came out early to volunteer at our very first Merritt Street Clean-Up. The event took place at Scarcyny Park and included many fun family activities included bobbing for apples, face painting, pumpkin painting, a haze maze, sack races and even a piñata!
